HISTORY
Welcome to our neighborhood restaurant, Sylvan Table, set in the “prettiest little town in Michigan”, Sylvan Lake.
Our new American cuisine is inspired by our love of local, fresh, sometimes unique ingredients carefully chosen and simply prepared highlighting the seasons. The interior atmosphere evokes the warm, homey experience of dining in a special friend’s home. Enjoy sitting under the rafters of a 300-year-old barn or in the cozy stone walled solarium surrounded by eclectic lighting and charm. The open, scratch kitchen boasts an eight-foot wood fired grill and a wood fired pizza oven.
Our Barn
The design of Sylvan Table began with the acquisition of a 300-year-old barn from Thorndike, Maine. Using the barn's original design, we incorporated industrial textiles, windows and warm woods. The interior is open, cozy, rustic and modern.
Inside our barn, you will find:
-
2 dining levels
-
A main level seating area adjacent to the kitchen
-
8-foot wood fired grill by GrillWorks
-
Wood fired pizza oven
-
2 wood fireplaces, one of which we cook in
-
Glass roof solarium

Our Farm
Our restaurant sits on 5 acres, 3 acres that is dedicated to our farm. Grown with conscious and sustainable methods, we will have 100 different crop varieties. These will be incorporated into our seasonal food and drink menus.
We have 3 hoop houses which will house everything from kale, beets, carrots, a variety of peas, beans, lettuces, etc. There are bee hives on the property, tended by owner Tim Ryan. Laying chickens will provide fresh eggs. Apple, pear, plum and even Michigan kiwi fruit trees are planted in anticipation of maturing over the years. The irrigation comes from an underground spring fed well on the property.
In an effort to eliminate food waste and contribute to environmental sustainability, we will practice regenerative agriculture and composting on-site.
